The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) held its annual
RECon convention last month in Las Vegas. This global event brings
together retail industry professionals from all over the world,
including real estate brokers, tenants, owners, developers, property
managers, mortgage bankers and lenders.
Attendance had fallen for the past few conferences, but this year’s
gathering drew more than 32,000 attendees. The mood was also
considerably more optimistic than in recent years, as people throughout
the retail sector anticipate an improved market and lots of
opportunities.
RECon is packed full of sessions on a variety of topics, and features
great speakers from within the retail industry and outside of it. Some
of the big names at this year’s conference included Leslie H. Wexner,
founder, chairman and CEO of Limited Brands; and Joan Lunden, a former
co-host of “Good Morning America”.
And while there’s much to learn at these sessions, retail
professionals primarily look forward to RECon because of the vast
networking and deal-making opportunities.
