AFC Enterprises—parent of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen—reported sales
for the last quarter and fiscal year improved; domestic same store sales
declined 1% for the quarter, compared with last year’s decline of 2.1%; it
expects 2009 earnings to be at the upper end of its earlier estimate of 66-70
cents per share...DSW Inc has upped its previous estimates for 2009 due
to better-than-expected results for the fourth quarter, and now expects that
annual comparable store sales for its 305 footwear stores and 356 leased
departments would rise to 3% and annual earnings would be $1.15-$1.25…Genesco
Inc announced same store sales for the quarter rose 1%, with e-commerce and
catalog direct sales rising 24%; for its divisions, they ranged from a high of
7% for Hat World to a –2% for Journeys Group...Brinker
International, Inc said revenues for the quarter fell 7.6% to $781.9 million
and comparable restaurant sales at Chili’s, On The Border, and
Maggiano’s fell 3.2%, 4.7% and 1.6%, respectively...For the holiday period
ended Jan 16, Borders Group, Inc announced total consolidated sales were
down 13.7% to $848.8 million...Big Five Sporting Goods Corp reported
sales for the fourth quarter of ‘09 were $237.6 million compared to $219.6
million and same-store sales were up 0.1%...For the quarter ended Dec. 29, ‘09,
The Cheesecake Factory Inc said same-store sales fell 0.9% from a year
ago when the chain posted a 7.1% decline...Belgium-based supermarket operator
Delhaize Group said sales in the U.S. for the final quarter of ‘09 fell 8.5%
to $4.64 billion; the company operates the Food Lion, Hannaford and
Sweet Bay chains...Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Inc reported
total revenues for the quarter ended Nov 30, ‘09 were down 7.6% to $6.9 million
compared to revenues of $7.4
million...Atlanta, GA-based Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc reported
sales for the fourth quarter ‘09 were up 0.4% to $162.4 million compared to
$161.8 million and comparable store sales increased 2%. The company operates 121
showrooms in 17 states in the South and Midwest...Developers Diversified
Realty Corp announced ‘09 financial accomplishments totaled $2 billion in
capital raised...For the quarter ended Nov. 28, ‘09, Bed Bath & Beyond Inc
reported net sales of $1.975 billion, an increase of 10.8% from net sales of
$1.783 billion...Sonic Corp posted a 13% decline in net income to $6.2
million for the quarter ended Nov. 30, ‘09...Sears Holdings Corp
announced comparable store sales for the month of Dec.‘09 for Kmart and
Sears Domestic were up 5.3% and down 4.3%, respectively...Destination
Maternity Corp said net sales for the month of Dec. ‘09 were up 2.4% to
$46.7 million...Jacksonville, FL-based Stein Mart,
Inc reported sales for the month of Dec. ‘09 were down 4.4% to $170.2
million compared to $178 million and comparable store sales were down 2%...For
the five weeks ended Jan. 2, Limited Brands, Inc announced same-store
sales were down 2% and net sales were $1.66 billion compared to $1.64
billion...Net sales for the nine-week period ended Jan 2 increased 5.5% to
$111.7 million for Kirkland’s, Inc and same-store sales were up 9.7%...Trans
World Entertainment Corp, which operates under the names f.y.e. for you
entertainment and Suncoast said total sales for the three months
ended Jan 2, were $241 million compared to $287 million and comparable store
sales were down 16%...For the month ended Jan 2, Abercrombie & Fitch,
which operates 347 Abercrombie & Fitch stores, 208 abercrombie stores,
508 Hollister Co stores, 22 Ruehl stores and 16 Gilly Hicks
stores in the U.S., reported net sales fell 11% to $482.5 million and same-store
sales fell 19%...Aeropostale, Inc said total net sales for the five-week
period ended Jan 2 were up 17% to $460.8 million from $392.7 million and
same-store sales were up 10%.
